The AS1100 can be programmed via a conventional four-wire
10MHz serial interface. It features both analog and
digital brightness control, includes a BCD code-B decoder,
multiplex scan circuitry, segment and display drivers
and a 64-bit memory which is used to store the LED settings
so that continuous reprogramming is not necessary.
"Each individual segment can be addressed and
updated separately," said Walter Moshammer, Marketing
Director of austriamicrosystems'
communications business. "In addition, only one
external resistor is required to set the current through
the LED display."
The driver features both digital and analog brightness
control and design engineers can choose the internal
code-B decoder to display numeric digits or to address
each segment directly. The number of visible digits
can be programmed, it can be reset by software and an
external clock can be used. Several test modes are available
to support easy debugging.
Pin compatible with Maxim's MAX7219, the AS1100 is
available immediately in 24-pin PDIP and SOIC packaging.
Demoboards are available and datasheets can be found
