has launched the AS1320, a high efficiency step-up DC-DC
converter with fully integrated synchronous rectifier
eliminating the need for external transistors. With
a supply voltage of 1.5 to 3.5V the AS1320 is capable
of delivering a 200mA output current at a 3.3V fixed
output voltage. With an efficiency of 90% the AS1320
is an ideal solution for battery powered portable applications.
The AS1320 features a shutdown mode where it draws
less than 1uA. In shutdown mode the battery is connected
directly to the output to enable direct battery feed
through. This enables the input battery to be used as
backup or as a real-time clock supply when the converter
is off and eliminates the need for an expensive back-up
battery. To ensure stable operation the integrated power
on reset circuitry enables the AS1320 to reset any type
of microprocessor after power up.
The high output current combined with the low power
consumption makes the AS1320 an ideal solution for battery
powered devices like medical and diagnostics devices,
digital cameras, PDA’s and smart phones, cordless
phones and other handheld products. In particular, dual-cell
powered battery devices benefit from the AS1320.
The AS1320 is available in a SOT23-6pin package without
the need for external components and is pin compatible
to Maxim MAX1833 and the MAX8569B. For product specific
