austriamicrosystems AG  is inviting you to participate on the 2006 application contest.

Background
The AS8500/AS8501 are high precision data acquisition ICs that can be used in virtually every application where a physical quantity is being measured – with never seen precision up to now! From a battery management system in a car over a high precision weight scale to a sensor interface for an accelerometer - any application that converts voltage changes - like from a resistive bridge - into an output signal, anything is possible with these ICs.

Contest & Awards
Target of the contest is to award the most innovative application ideas using the AS8500/AS8501 as a core element – it could be anything you imagine!

• €7.500 for the winning team
• € 5.000 for the second best team
• € 2.500 for the third best team

Travel cost and accommodation for two members out of the five teams who provided the most interesting concepts will be borne by austriamicrosystems.

What to provide
Sketches, diagrams, presentations, pictures, text, and so forth; Anything that describes the application and how the AS8500 or AS8501 is being used. The description has to contain a block diagram of the circuitry and the functions that are to be performed.

Procedure & Time Frame
Concepts have to be submitted by June 30, 2006. The best five teams will be invited to present the working prototype on September 15, 2006 during austriamicrosystems’ 25th anniversary celebrations at the headquarters nearby Graz.

The participation is open to teams and individuals that have been registered.
